Genting Conquered!

Finally we are back from our 1st overseas trip with 2 toddlers! Of course undoubtedly, we were faced with 'challenges' and awkward situations but we overcame all nonetheless. Both kids were rather cooperative when we had to wake them up real early around 6a.m as our coach was to leave at 7a.m. Jovin was very excited and was not thowing tantrums as she knew we were going to Genting. This was the 1st time Jovin had the whole seat to herself and she was very curious and excited, kept pressing the massaging buttons, tried different sitting positions etc. Jovan was a bit listless though. He was in a dazed mode as he still felt sleepy then. As we reached the customs, there was a bit of problem as we couldn't get past the automated machine as our kids were young, had to queue for the manual service. Thus, the whole coach had to wait for us, so paiseh. Finally, some peace after we passed the Malaysia customs as Jovan soon fell asleep and Jovin fell asleep too while watching Mr Bean cartoon. That was the time when James and I could finally catch a breather and watched some movies.

Transtar service is indeed first class solitare standard as the name suggests. Service was good and we reached Genting in 6 hours! Both kids were excited. We placed Jovan on the pram and walked to Resort hotel to check-in. Along the way, we browsed through the shops and realised not much major changes since our last visit but definitely there were new eateries which enticed us hehe. Checking in procedure was very smooth. Both kids were delighted at the room and played in the play-pen which they provided upon our request. Jovin asked us if this was our new house haha! Jovan walked unsteadily around the room, exploring all the different items on the side table, drawers, wardrobes etc. As he explored, we had to double up as 24hr bodyguards and kept all the hazardous items.

After unpacking and bathing the kids, we went in search for FOOOOD! Had a lousy meal though at the open food-court-like area. The dim sum sucks, yet it doesn't come cheap. Both James and I were full of complaints and swore not to eat that again. We bought indoor them park tix and we started on all the rides. Jovin was the most excited. She went on unlimited no. of rides - carousel, bumper car, motor car, ferris wheel etc. Of course, our darling prince joined in some of the family rides too but had to look at jiejie playing other rides as he was too young. Of all, Jovin went on bumper car rides the most no. of times till 12a.m! She was the onle and last patron. She improved by leaps and bounds mastering the bumping skills. She intially only knew how to swerve in circles and didn't know how to control the steering wheel, but slowly adapted as the game attendant personally coached her hehe.

The next day, we went on to outdoor theme park rides after a good breakfast buffet at Resort cafe. Weather was good and we took elephant , plane , pirate train, revolivng tea-cup, rodeo rider rides etc. Jovin was very interested in the space shot as she saw adults sitting on it and rising up into the sky, followed by sudden thump. She was very curious and kept asking James to carry her high up to see. Guess what? There was a mini-version too for the kids and Jovin took it! She was fearless and took the ride several times! Jovan took his nap in the midst whereas Jovin totally forgone her nap as she was immersed in all the rides. We took almost all the kids rides but gave the adult rides a miss this trip cos we merely wanted to accompany the kids. We stayed till the park closed at 7p.m before the kids reluctantly left. The park rodes were still the same but there were additons to the playground and there was a new chocolate wonderland which wa sperfect for photo-shoot :)

When we left the park, both kids were totally concussed and fell asleep. Heavy downpour started. Luckily we rushed back indoors in time. Jovin slept in the pram and Jovan slept in my baby pouch. Both James and I were shagged too, had a rest at coffee bean to rest our legs for some relaxation. After recharging, we shopped around, bought some children's clothes from Poney and World of Cartoons. The kids finally woke up then and James told me she wanted to buy something and she brought Jovin along. Suddenly, a piece of cake appeared in fromt of me, hehe! James actually planned to have a mini-birthday celebration for me at 12a.m as we blow the candle. So sweet :)

Another plan of dear was to take family shots at the photo sticker studio. We paid RM 35 but the service was good as there was assistants to decorate the photos for us etc. The turnout was very good and we were so pleased. The assistants were so pro with the decor! After that, we had games at the arcade. That was a terrible time for us actually as Jovan was extremely uncooperative. He wailed so loudly and threw tantrums as we dragged him away from each station. He really has a terrible temper compared to Jovin. It was such an embarassing moment as people started to notice us with his wails. Goodness... We went back to hotel room and as I bathed the kids, James was busy with his preparation. As midnight strucks, my 3 most beloved sang birthday song for me and I had a lovely tiramisu from coffee bean. I really felt on cloud nine at that moment. Had the whole cake and James gave me a good foot massage. I had the sweetest dream that night.....

On our final day, dear treated me to sumptous dim sum at Ah Yat Abalone restaurant. Food was very good. Jovin loved the scallop and prawn rice rolls and for me, ate like a glutton. Since it's hubby's treat, I kept ordering hehe....We had some free time before departure and went to arcade, shopped around. Thought everything was ok as we waited for the coach at the lobby. Guess what? Realised Jovin's milk powder actually got toppled over in the suitcase and the items were dirtied! Luckily all my itmes were indivisually packed but I had such a trying time, clearing up the mess, grabbing rags to wipe the suitcase etc. whereas dear tried to help and juggle with the kids at the same time. In the end, we were among the last to board as usual. On the coach, Jovin fell asleep soon after and she really had such a good sleep that she only woke up 5 hours later when we reached the customs! Jovan only slept for around 2 hours. Intially we had a hard time pacifying him but we finally settled him as we played his favourite music dvd and hi-5 to quieten him.

It was very exhausting indeed with the 2 kids but looking at the smiles and chuckles on the 2 little 'Js', I think it's still worth it and I do not regret my choice. Dear, as usual, was full of complaints but told him I feel it's important we do something as a whole family at different stages of life. I thank hubby fot the simple yet memorable celebration. It was a wonderful 32nd birthday. Genting is conquered by us and Jovin kept pestering us to bring her back again. Well, our next trip will be Sunway Lagoon with my family in end Nov. Hopefully, as Jovan grows older then, things would be more manageable then. Counting down to our next trip then :)
