A worrying week
The past weekdays have been real torturous and worrying for James and myself. Both our precious little 'J's fell sick at the same time, yet both different symptoms. Both had fever which started from Wednesday. For Jovan, he vomited twice in the middle of the night around 2.30a.m on Wednesday morning. The entire cot was in a real mess and we had to give Jovan a quick warm shower to rid him of the smell and dirt due to the vomit. That was once. We thought, it might be due to some indigestion which resulted in the vomit. To Jovan, milk is his bread and butter which he can't survive without it. Reluctantly, I agreed to James giving him some diluted milk feed so that he could sleep. Alas, Jovan vomitted again on our bed! Again, the procedure repeated. That was around 3.30a.m. Very guilty towards my mum who helped us to clear the mess and it took us much coaxing and pacifying before Jovan slept.
We brought Jovan to the doctor early next morning and he felt a bit feverish. He was diagnosed as mild stomach flu. However, the medicine was effective indeed. At least Jovan did not vomit since then after milk feed. However, as Jovan didn't get to eat his favourite porridge due to fever, he got hungry easily and became agitated. He laid on the bed and seemed very lethargic on Wednesday night. That was the first time I saw Jovan so inactive and not his usual active hyper self.
As for Jovin, she had on-off fever since Tue night. We gave her paracetomol but her fever subsided and returned once the medicine effect wore off. Her fever was so high that I had to bring her to see doctor on Thursday and her temperature was 39.4 deg celsius! Doctor inserted the 'bullet' to bring down her temperature and gave us nurofen as well. On top of that, Jovin had to take antibiotics as she was diagnosed as having mild throat infection.
Since Tue night, James and I had to take turns look after our 2 little darlings, monitored their temperature throughout the nights, sponging their bodies with cool towels etc. They really worried me. However,as we had to stay up late, James and I even had opportunities to enjoy WII games so as to motivate ourselves to stay up to take care of the kids.
It made us so happy to see our kids regain their normal selves. Jovan started to be more active since Thursday night and now, fully charged at 100%! As for Jovin, her fever has not returned since yesterday morning. Both of them are now enjoying WII games with daddy in the living room and the familiar screams and laughter returned. What a relief and really happy to see my 2 kids healthy once again!
As parents, it's a tedious yet rewarding experience that money can't be bought. It's true they bring us worries and burn big holes in our pockets, but the laughter and joy they bring to a couple is irreplaceable. The birth of Jovin and Jovan have in fact boosted our marriage further and I truly witnessed for myself what is meant by THE JOY OF HAVING KIDS :)
