Jovin's Year-end Party!

It's the last day of school today and parents were invited to join the kids in their year-end party. As my class only starts in the late afternoon today, I was able to join Jovin in the great fun. We brought fishballs and sausages for the party and Jovin was dressed in her favourite pink princess dress. Intially, I thought it was really formal. However, I realised all her good friends were wearing similar bridal dresses and they put on heels. Oh my, times have really changed.....

The spread was overwhelming. There were few other parents like me and being with the young kids really made me feel young once again. Jovin was so happy that I came and teacher told me Jovin kept telling her that mummy is coming today. I saw Jovin enjoying herself tremendously as she had fun with her friends. They ate together, giggled together, busy taking photos together.... She was thrilled as seen from her photos. It really warms my heart as Jovin kept telling her classmate I'm her mummy, she's very happy. Although it was really tiring as I didn't have enough sleep hours, but the look on Jovin's face tells me everything is worth it for my princess.

The kids were most thrilled as they played musical chairs. All were so apprehensive about being 'kicked out' from the game. I captured the video of the entire process and she repeatedly played it for her daddy and Jovan, haha!

It was really a wonderful morning spent with my little princess. As parents, despite our busy schedules, it's important we make it a point to give that little attention to our kids whenever we can. I think it really makes a difference and any sacrifice is worth it in exchange for the smiles from my little 'J's :)

Jovan's N1 Orientation!

Last Saturday, it was Jovan's N1 orientation. Dear took leave and mum accompanied us as she was worried about Jovan. It wasn't easy from the start as Jovan didn't want to cooperate as we were buying unforms, settling transport arrangement etc. Parents were expected to stay in the auditorium for the briefing as Jovan was 'taken away' by the teachers to another room. Separation anxiety was expected. Jovan's expression changed as the teachers took him away from us. My mum and Jovin followed him. Intially, he didn't cry. However, he was affected by the other children who wailed so loudly. It was just like a choir and soon, almost the 10 kids cried. Jovan was looking and shouting for daddy and mummy. However, we chose to stay away and left him in the good hands of the teachers. Moreover, my mum was in the room.

Soon after the briefing, Jovan came running to us happily! Mum told me the teacher was very skilful in coaxing Jovan as she led him to the playground. Before we left,Jovan even hugged and kissed the teacher! We were very surprised at this! Jovan is more shy compared to Jovin, thus we anticipated more difficulties in settling him. Indeed, he cried as expected but he calmed down sooner than we expected which was a terrific sign! We complimented our boy for his good behaviour and treated him to ice-cream!

It would be another 1.5 months to 5 Jan 2011 when school reopens. I forsee the same problems would set in again. However, I believe my dear boy would be able to overcome it real soon, just like his sister. Dear Jovan, we believe you are a brave boy and you would definitely enjoy your school life :)

When the going gets tough.....

It isn't really easy to manage studies and family especially when the kids are still young who are so attention seeking. The week before was the most pressurizing as I was faced with tests and projects almost everyday. To worsen it, every weekend is spent for assignment completion. Of course, as I'm one who can't stay indoors, I still spend my weekend outdoors with my dearest 'J's. However, it has been long since I had a good sleep. Every weekend, I would usually start doing my essay assignment from midnight 12am till 6a.m! Do you believe it? I couldn't believe my will power too haha! I'm one who doesn't like last minute cramming, thus onc I'm set my mind upon completion by certain timeline, I would definitely complete it. That's me.
It's really tiring especially when I have to spend time with my 2 little dears for their story-telling session. As for Jovin, every night, I still have to do one hour of work with her before I can start doing my work. Despite the tough process, I managed to go through and sem 1 is coming to an end in 4 weeks' time! As I clear my assignments, I countdown to my 3 weeks holidays. Though no overseas trip, but there's X'mas, New Year, chalet which I can look forward to.
I can do it cos I always have my 3 wonderful 'J's supporting me. All the way!

Happy 7th wedding anniversary!

This is our 7th wedding anniversary. 7 years ago on 8 Nov 2003, dear and I made the most important decision in our lives to entrust our lives to each other. 7 years down the road, as I wrote in my facebook, my decision has been proven right. Since the day we got to know each other in 1995, the love journey has not been plain sailing but we matured along the way and of course, love deepens between us, needless to say after what we've been through together.

I recall our past 8 Nov was spent in the follwing manner:
2004: Cruise
2005: Newly crowned parents with our 1 week old princess Jovin
2006: Genting with our princess
2007: Mummy was 5+ month preggy with prince Jovan
2008: Romancing @ Tokyo
2009: Romancing @ Bangkok

Every year, we usually made it a point to celebrate overseas but of course I'm now confined to my schedule in NIE, thus gotta accept my fate as a student. However, I was so happy that dear actually gave me a surprise and arranged for dinner at the place when he proposed to me on 22 Sep 2003! All took place at Prego at Raffles City Shopping Mall. It was a a Mon evening but there was no Monday blues that day haha! Dear called me and we arranged to meet 8p.m at Raffles City MRT.

This year's wedding annniversary was really unforgettable as I even had to take a test on the very same day haha! What's more, I had a full 7 hours straight lessons that day with no time for lunch at all. Following which, I had project discussion which lasted through 7p.m.

Despite so much pressure that day, my spirits was still high especially when I went on the dinner date with dear. I was so surprised when dear presented me with the bouquet of my favourite pink roses. Really sweet of him. It has been long since I received that hehe. Holding that bouquet of roses, I sensed passer-bys were looking at me. Haha really long since I ever had that feeling. But it was really wonderful.

As we were led into the restaurant, the waiter took lovely photos of us and we placed order for their recommended 4-course set meal. The appetizer was really enticing and I didn't expect myself to enjoy the raw wagyu beef salad so much. i'm one who doesn't take raw stuff but the succulence and tenderness of the beef coupled with its sauce was heavenly. I finished even faster than dear!

As for the main course, my portion of pizza was almost twice of dear's miserable portion of scallop pasta. In the end, he took half of my portion as I really couldn't finish it. I loved the dessert the most which is mainly apricot with pudding and ice-cream. Every course simply tasted wonderful in dear's presence.

We chatted about our good old days, just like during our courtship. It was merely a short 2 hour dinner date, but I really enjoyed it. What's most memorable was us taking the mrt ride back to Bishan where dear parked his car. On the mrt, we held hands standing among the sardine-packed crowd, just like those days when we had no car. I still remembered we used to love taking MRT from north to Tampines, Woodlands, Expo etc every weekend on our dates.....

Dear, really many thks for the effort to organise such a great celebration. I truly appreciate it and of course, even cherish the love u've given me and the kids. I look forward to celebrating every wedding anniversary with u and our 1st 10th wedding anniversary in 2013. Hehe, remember your promise for our 10th year celebration. This is a secret between us which I will never forget.

Happy wedding anniversary, my dearest hubby 文强!

Happy 5th Birthday, Jovin!

Time really flies. I really couldn't believe Jovin has already turned 5 !Still remembered the day the hour she was brought into my arms, merely weighing at 3.08kg, sucking happily from mummy's nipples on her very first day. Till now, she has grown up to be a sweet little pinky princess who never fails to bring us sunshine and laughter, just like the very first day she was born.

School Celebration

Jovin had her first celebration with our best pals. We also held a school birthday celebration for her last Friday. Dear and I accompanied her to her school around noon with the Winx Club cake and her specially prepared goodie bags. As it was her birthday celebration that day, she had the privilege of wearing her own dress to school. My dear girl was dressed in her favourite pink dress from Mini Princess, accessorised with necklace and bracelet, looked fully dressed up just like a princess!

Every Friday, it happens to be their exercise day. Thus, dear and I witnessed how the kids did exercise under the teacher's instructions. This was our first time seeing our girl doing exercise so happily and I took many video clips on that. It was just like a mini assembly before all students returned to their respective classrooms. Everyone knew that it was Jovin's birthday and all were so excited when we opened up the birthday cake box. The teachers were so kind to arrange for many photo shots for us , Jovin and the entire class. Jovin was full of smiles and glees.Jovin happily placed her own 5 candles on the Winx Club cake and she looked so demure when everyone sang birthday song for her.

After the shots were taken, Jovin suddenly whispered into my ears 'Mummyu, can I take one photo with Shaun? Only him.'Oh my, dear and I almost fell off our chairs. The 2 were teased by their classmates and even their teachers when they seemed so embarrased standing together taking couple shot. Kids nowadays really mature fast. Puppy love at K1? That's really early huh? Times have changed. I have aged too oh my!

The celebration ended with Jovin presenting goodie bags for her friends. Again, Shaun was 'forced' by the teachers to take a single shot with Jovin haha! Before dear and I left, the kids said “再见叔叔阿姨”. Oh they really look so adorable. Jovin had a wonderful celebration indeed and I could sense her joyfulness too.

Family Celebration

Every year without fail, we would hold a family celebration with our families. Dear and I bought sushi and 煮炒 for dinner. In total, there were almost 20 of us. We decorated the whole house with balloons, disney princess and Barbie party banner. Jovin even put on party hat for her big day and wore a beautiful dress to welcome the guests.

Our niece and nephews had finished their exams too. Thus, all were in a jovial mood and almost tore my whole place down haha! They played the soccer match, throwing balls in the toys room, and of course not forgetting their favourite WII games. Luckily food wa adequate as we were still fearful that the quantity may not suffice. It was a simple but heartwarming birthday celebration but I believe it meant a lot to Jovin and i would want her to understand what's most important is to have all our beloved ones beside us.

This year's birthday cake designs were all chosen personally by Jovin. She chose the Princess Belle design for family celebration and even cut her own cake! Our little girl has really grown up! All of us enjoyed the vanilla longan cake and Jovin was the happiest as she had the freedom to eat tidbits, cold drinks and of course her favourite cake.

This year's presents were mostly centred upon the theme of Disney Princess and dear and I bought storybooks and magnetic story scenes on Disney Princesses for our little princess. She received so many presents from our families till they were too much for her little hands to manage haha!

Dearest Jovin, Daddy and Mummy wish you a wonderful birthday. May u remain the little sunshine in our hearts forever, just as u have always been :)
