Nex Shopping Mall!

Have been hearing so much about the heavily publicized Nex Shopping Mall @ Serangoon. Mum and I decided to bring the kids for dinner on last Friday and told dear to meet us there directly after he knocked off from work.

Our little 'J's were in high spirits and even my dear Jovan was willing to cooperate with jiejie and posed beautifully for mummy while waiting for the train. We recently bought Jovan a new Mickey bag and he insisted bringing the bag along.

Haha, I secretly snapped a few shots from behind. He really looked hilarious with the Mickey on his back.

We knew that parking lots were limited at Nex, so clever dear parked his car at Bishan and took a train to meet us instead. The shopping mall was indeed big with many eateries and restaurants. However, the stores do not differ much from other shopping malls. Just don't understand why so many people flocked here. Can't believe this is a neighbourhood shopping mall as it gave me the feeling as though I was in Orchard!

Singaporeans like us are curious by nature. Every shopping mall looks the same, but everywhere is packed with unmanageable crowd. However, Nex is indeed a good alternative to town area shopping. Another good hideout for us in future :)

What Little 'J's have been up to.....

This craft work is really worthwhile buying. Our little 'J's enjoyed the process so much and it improved the bonding between the siblings and of course, mummy and kids too! Jovan definitely needed coaching. I was surprised Jovan was willing to listen to Jovin and allowed her to help him with the work. This craftwork puts the kids' patience to test and train their motor skills. They would need to match the shapes, decide and just tear the double-sided tape and paste it on the provided board. Upon completion, Jovin even drew eyes, lines etc to beautify the picture. Another great advantage was that, I was able to have some private moments to myself as the two buzz themselves with the process.

Good investment! My dear parents friends, no harm buying one to test if this works for your kids:)

Meet-up with long-time pals!

For the past 2 days, I have been happily binging on great food and of course most importantly, GREAT COMPANY!I'm happy to be surrounded by great trusting pals whom I can always talk in front of them without any reservations. For this, I am really thankful to god who is so kind to me. Last 2 days, I met up with 2 groups of my buddies from my ex workplace. We got accquainted in 2001, the year I entered MXXXX.

Jennifer and SuYee were in the same department as me, especially Su Yee who was in the same branch as me. The 3 of us were great company in tea-breaks, lunches, courses and we even took leave together to sing KTV, haha! That's how close we are....

As for Vivian and Kim, we got to know one another through the foundation i.e orientation course for all newly recruited entrants. Fate really plays a part. We just got on well so well as though we have known one another for ages. Since then, we made an effort to meet one another often though we span across different departments. From singles, we witnessed one another's marriage, shared the news of pregnancy, laughed at one another's pregnancy advanced look, witnessed the birth of our 2nd baby. That's how COMMON we are!

Now all of us have left the organisation except for my dear Vivian, but our friendship bonding is still very strong. Thanks to facebook and smses. We kept in touch via these communication tools. Thanks to I-phone who enabled my pals Su yee and Kim, who are 'distant' facebook users to log onto facebook more regularly.

Tue 14 Dec 2010

We had a simple dinner at AMK Hub Ichian Sushi. All of us were excited as the last time we met was Jan 2010! There's so much to talk about on career, my 2 pals past vacation trips etc. Sigh, as for me, no vacation for this year except Genting due to my NIE studies. Really envy being singles at times but looking back at my 2 little 'J's, still think family is a preferred option for me after all.

Highlight was the gift exchange. So coincidentally, our gifts ranged from small to big and all had at least a purple item in it. Haha, great minds thibk alike. They commented I didn't bring Jovin around this round as they remembered she took so many great photos for us then. Thanks to the 2 great aunties who bought wonderful X'mas presents for my little ones. So sweet and thoughtful of them. I told them Jovin will be doing her P1 registration next year. They exclaimed it seems only yesterday they carried her as a newborn! Time really flies but our friendship definitely still rocks year after year!

Wed 15 Dec 10

Last night, had another great binge on Jap food again. The 3 of us never admitted we have aged, despite being now mothers of 2. But guess what? All of us met the same situation i.e stuck and unsure of the directions leading to Plaza Sing from the mrt station. Firstly, we don't always shop here. Secondly, we usually travel by car when we come here. Hubby would drive and we would rest in the car. Haha. Vivian and I still managed to locate the correct direction at our first attempt. But Kim was totally lost and even called us for help. Haha, we told her to admit it and just ask any other youngster. But she didn't want to 'expose' her 'maturity' , so in the end, still managed to find her way out.

We had a good laugh over this. Hmmm, signs that we are really no longer YOUNG. As usual, kids, career, hubby- common topics. How to train our kids, what enrichment lessons, what primary schools .... These are all our mummy topics!

It has been a wonderful night of catching up with my great pals. We have really so much in common, think this will last us through long as our kids are almost the same ages. My forever great KPO mummy friends!

Finally, our X'mas tree!

Our X'mas tree is finally up and the kids did their part in the decor!
Well done, our little 'J's!

Eat, Shop & Be Merry!

X'mas mood has started to swing in for House of 'J's. We have been doing X'mas shopping, eating to our hearts content and make merry for the past week!

Sun 5 Dec 10 - City Square Mall

Last Sun, we treated my mum to a birthday dinner at Paradise Inn Restaurant which she simply loved it. Sis's family wasn't around to join in the celebration as they were away in Japan for holidays ( Sooooo...envious!) So brother and I arranged to treat mum to this restaurant which we felt that the food would be to mum's liking. We chose City Square outlet as we wanted to shop after dinner.

Mum gave thumbs up for the meal and after the sumptous meal, the kids had fun at the fountain area. Then we brought the kids to the bubble area where there was a bubble show and the kids immeresed themselves in bubble fun! We browsed through the shops and soon, we decided to move on separately as parents wanted to go home first.

So the House of 'J's continued to venture. I chanced upon a scrapbook making shop and bought more stickers and materials for my 3 weeks holiday project for my little 'J's. I also settled my X'mas gifts for my 2 great pals whom I would be meeting on Tue night. It has been half a year since we last met. Really so excited. Though busy, we never fail to meet up during X'mas season for our annual get-together and gift exchange. They were my comrades in my last workplace and my forever best jiemeis!

Wed 8 Dec 10 - Marina Square

I happened to have no lessons. Thus, decided to bring the kids for their favourite Hi-5 show. The crowd was horrendous, though still better than normal weekends. We queued almost 30-45mins just to ensure our kids get the best seats, but too bad we still couldn't get the photo passes. Dear decided to carry Jovan on his shoulders, so Jovin went in the stage area alone and enjoyed her up close and personal opportunity with the Hi-5 group.

As usual, the kids were hyper when the group appeared on the stage as though some superstar have descended from heaven. Our kids too joined in the wailings and shoutings. I even heard whistles from the bigger kids! However, to us, it was indeed an eye-opener too, but I doubt we crazed over all these during our younger days? Mine was Smurfs? Every Sun, without fail, I would standby in front of the TV for the smurfs cartoon. That's what I can recall and nothing crazier things, I guess. Times have changed.....

After the 4pm show, we started our main agenda-shopping! Bought items from Action city and our kids entertained themselves with the interesting gadgets on sale. Jovan was not as apprehensive as before and even allowed one of the shop assistants to carry him! As dear took care of the kids at the shop, I sneaked out to the shop beside Action City i.e my PRECIOUS MOMENTS! Guess what? I settled my membership renewal, as sponsored by my dear hubby in his wedding vow in 2005 and I bought a limited edition figurine. This figurine only comes in 2000 pieces worldwide, and it's only for sale in Singapre. That's what makes it valuable. When faced with Precious Moments, I'm truly uncontrollable and couldn't stop $$$$ from flowing out of my pockets hehe.So I ended up becoming $220 poorer when I walked out of the shop but I'm happy spiritually. That's what it matters. Moreover, I've been so hardworking in my studies, so treat that as a reward for myself haha!

As we walked, we gathered more X'mas gift ideas. We exchanged the receipt for a $10 voucher and a Hi-5 cushion! The kids were thrilled! We spent the voucher straight away at Andersons Ice-cream and waffle-ice-cream was our fave pick as usual. Strawberries and cream, yummy!

It's really a wonderful feeling to shop, eat and be merry. That's our agenda for rest of the weeks. More X'mas gatherings, presents, great food......The thought of these make me excited. Counting down to X'mas!
