Last evening, we held a mini birthday celebration for Jovin. We invited both families to join in the celebration. Though it's only confined to family members, our 'guests' totalled to almost 20 as my family is already extended with Jovin's cousins. Prior to the party, Jovin helped us in doing up some mini party decor by hanging the banners, balloons etc. She was very excited and knew that it was her party. Jovin had great fun with her cousins in the playroom. Jovan was still very young, so he went round crawling and moving in the walker. James and I went to get dimsum from Ho Kee, fried bee hoon and chicken wings from Chong Pang and we got sushi platter from Ichiban as well. The variety was good and sushi was whipped up in a flash. Both kids and adults loved it. While the kids were mingliing around and made a total mess of my playroom, the adults engaged in chit-chatting, internet, watching of DVDs etc. My mum and in-law had a great chat over the 2 grandchildren, talking about how are Jovin and Jovan etc.
The crucial moment finally arrives. We brought out the cak eand everyone commented the Barney cake was indeed very pretty. My Jovin was elated. She kept posing in front of the camera. Didn't even bother her hair was in atotal mess after plying with her cousins. We took shots very quickly as Jovan was showing imminent signs of weariness and sleepiness. True enough, after the family shot, he immediately fell asleep when we put him in the cot with the bolster. Jovin felt so proud as we sang birthday song for her. She looked so pro when she blew out the candles, though it took her some effort to blow out the 3 candles and I wondered how much saliva splattered on the cake hehe. We helped her with cake-cutting and she served her guests!
Jovin and Jerad were so impatient with the presents. Before I could even capture some shots of her unwrapping the presents, she finshed her 'destruction' process! The most coincidental thing was, my sis and I bought the same present i.e Pooh Bear vacuum cleaner! Haha, will leave one for Jovan and they can both do cleaning together hehe. Of course, she loves the mess-free marker pens we bought for her too and started to lay her hands on it as soon as the guests left. On top of that, she received Barney toys, clothes etc too.It really made her day. When she was busy with the unwrapping, her dear brother Jovan had already woken up and crawling around in his Tigger rompers, trying very hard to join in.
Last night was indeed tiring yet happy day for us. Both James and I were dead exhausted too. But we were glad Jovin enjoyed the party especially with all her loved ones. Jovin's next celebration falls on Wedn 29th Oct. I've ordered a 1.5kg Barney cake for her and she's looking forward to the goodie bag distribution to her friends too. Mummy is looking forward to next week too. It always warms my heart to see the smile on my kids' face :)
