Yesterday was my department's family day. Jovin woke up exceptionally early at 7a.m as she feared that I would leave her behind at home if she did not wake up on time. As we had our pre-admission tix beforehand, dear and I decided to go to the zoo earlier as it has been raining cats and dogs during afternoons for the past few weeks, so we decided to make use of the morning period and have a good day at the zoo. After getting all the things prepared for the excursion, we set off early at 8.30a.m.
It was a 10 min ride to the zoo and we were one of the early birds who reached the zoo. We had a good but expensive breakfast at the Ah Meng Kopi. Well, torist spot and the prices are equally exorbitant as expected. A milo costs $2.50! Well, nonetheless, after the great meal, we began on our adventure. It's our 2nd trip for this year. The first time we visited this year was to mark Jovan's birthday celebration. This time round, Jovan has learnt to appreciate the animals and surroundings more. We saw the parrots, swinging orangutans, monkeys, flamingoes and many more which the kids happily waved, exclaimed and jumped for joy! We managed to catch the remaining 2 shows which we didn't watch during our last visit, i.e elephants at work and rainforest animal show. In additon, Jovin watched the seal performance once again as I fed Jovan porridge.
The weather was very good in the morning and the kids happily walked around the park. However, it was really tough to capture shots of them together, especially Jovan. Thus, most of the photos were entred upon Jovin. Around noon, we went to Ah Meng Terrace where we were supposed to gather for the department's get-together and lunch. The kids were given exclusive goodie bags and both happily explored the toys in it. Jovin immediately put on her watch and accessory from the goodie bag.
Then we happened to see the animal keepers bring the dogs for display and Jovin had the opportunity to touch and feel them. Jovan was a bit afraid though and stepped back but he still dared to step forward eventually and gave them a stroke. However, Jovin soon got impatient and suggested James brought her to watch other animals like zebra, lion, rabbits while I stayed with Jovan with my colleagues. See, what a smart girl to come up with this proposal! Well, as there were already some rain droplets, James hurriedly put on her poncho and brought her to catch the other animals.
Jovan started to get tired too and eventually fell asleep in the pram as I got to enjoy some private peaceful moments with my colleagues during lunch and he slept comfortably. Well, we had cakes and KFC lunch. At least managed to satisfy my growling tummy. Had no luck with the lucky draw as usual. Missed by one number! Sigh....
James soon brought Jovin back and we brought Jovin for the pony ride which she has long requested for it since her last round. By then, Jovan just woke up and was showing some tantrums, thus James had to tend to him while I accompanied Jovin on her pony ride. Our orincess really enjoyed the ride and was fully satisfied except for not being able to see the giraffes this time round as the place was under construction.
As it was starting to rain, we put on ponchos for the kids and rushed our way back to the carpark. On the way, still managed to catch a few animals on sight but Jovin was totally exhausted and fell asleep on my shoulders as I carried her. It was a great day spent mingling with my colleagues as well as for the House of 'J's. Hehe, what's more, we didn't have to pay for food and admission tix. We will bring the kids back again next year as animals are always kids's best friends :)
